Garden City Residents Receive Scholarships

Three recent graduates of Garden City High School's Class of 2011 were selected as recipients of eight scholarship awards based upon their academic performance, community service and exceptional ability on the field.

The boys qualified for these awards based upon their participation in Long Island's Connie Mack Baseball League as members of the Garden City Athletics travel baseball team, which they played on for close to a decade.

Frank Cordio, currently enrolled in Boston College's Carroll School of Management, earned the Greater NY Sandlot Alliance Margaret Tempone Memorial Scholarship, a Long Island Connie Mack Scholarship and a National Amateur Baseball Federation Scholarship.

Matthew Focella, currently enrolled in Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business, secured the Greater NY Sandlot Alliance Raymond Church Memorial Scholarship, a Long Island Connie Mack Scholarship and a National Amateur Baseball Federation Scholarship.

James Cauchi, currently enrolled in Fordham University's Gabelli School of Business, earned the Greater NY Sandlot Alliance Richard Arcari Memorial Scholarship Award and a National Amateur Baseball Federation Scholarship.
