George Custance Of The Whitmore Group Honored

UJA-Federation Of New York celebrates his contributions at Long Island insurance division dinner.

George Custance, the president of Garden City’s The Whitmore Group, was honored recently at the Woodbury Jewish Center in Woodbury by the UJA-Federation of New York during its 2017 Long Island Insurance Division Dinner.

Custance has been with The Whitmore Group for more than 10 years, serving as the architect of the company’s commercial lines department. The company is a prominent insurance services and estate planning organization. With more than 30 years of expertise in all phases of property, casualty and international insurance programs, Custance’s background has enhanced The Whitmore Group’s recognition and ranking as a major boutique professional insurance agency in the New York metropolitan area.

A former major league baseball prospect, Custance’s interests include boating and sports activities both as a participant and as a manager. He volunteers as a board member for various youth sports organizations and
he supports The Whitmore Group’s many philanthropic programs.

“An insurance executive, an athlete but most of all I hold him in such high regard as a person,” said James C. Metzger, the CEO and founder of The Whitemore Group, as he introduced Custance at the UJA dinner. “I almost think of him as a father figure, because the person in my life who has similar impeccable character and perfect integrity is my father.”
