Girls Tennis Loses Tight Match to Port Washington
The Lady Vikings beat Garden City 5-2 in match play.
With the score 3-2 in favor of Port Washington it was up to Garden City's first and second doubles teams to pull out a win for the Lady Trojans in Thursday's match.
Unfortunately first doubles Marisa Cameron and Laura Ketijian and second doubles Savannah Debrose and Ann Marie Donohue were not able to pull it out.
Cameron and Ketijian lost a nailbiter to Port's Liz Kallenberg and Sarah Seeman 5-7 6-2 5-7 to give the Lady Vikings the 4-2 lead and the victory.

"It was a tight match for us and good competition," said Garden City head coach Crystal Boyd. "I would have liked to see the doubles pull through but I thought the girls put up a good fight."
The Lady Trojans are now 1-4 in conference.

Eighth grader Morgan Herrmann had no trouble in her match defeating Port's Lauren Livingston, 6-0 6-2.
Second singles Brittany Burke was also a winner, defeating Emma Brezel 6-1 6-2.
Both girls have been phenomenal all season long, winning every match they've played.
Sophomore third singles player Hannah Eilbeck went stroke for stroke with Port's Olga Kosheva but came out on the losing end 4-6 4-6.
"We had a good win against Oceanside [Wednesday]," said Boyd. "We just need to stay competitive in each and every match and we can pull some of these close ones out."
The Lady Trojans' next match is at home against Syosset Monday at 4:15 p.m.
