Nassau Hit-And-Run Sends Pedestrian To Hospital: Police
Robert Hauswald was taken into custody a short time later and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, police said.

UNIONDALE, NY — A hit-and-run accident Tuesday evening in Uniondale sent one person to the hospital, police said.
An investigation led to the arrest of Robert Hauswald, 68, of Hempstead, on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident, police said.
The victim, 60, was struck in the vicinity of Front Street and Maple Avenue. He suffered head and leg trauma, authorities said.

A witness told police that a grey 2001 Mercury, which left the scene, had extensive front windshield damage.
Hauswald was issued an appearance ticket for Jan. 8 at First District Court.
