Homecoming Victory over South Side
The Trojans dominated the South Side Cyclones 42-7 on Saturday before a packed Homecoming crowd.
Saturday's Homecoming football game against South Side featured a potent running attack and an unyielding defense for Garden City.
With close to 300 yards on the ground produced by eight different runners, the Trojans controlled the clock and the game.
Garden City scored four times on the ground with quarterback Brett Stewart rushing for two one-yard touchdowns, Brian Haeffner using his speed to break a 26 yarder around left end and Dan Confort with a burst through the right side for a 50-yard touchdown.
Stewart only had to throw two passes on the day, completing both, with the first going for a 32-yard first quarter touchdown to Tom Wright.
On defense Garden City dominated at the line of scrimmage and forced an early turnover that resulted in a 15-yard interception return for a touchdown by Justin Samardich. The Trojans only allowed 51 yards to the Cyclones on the ground.
Garden City plays at Elmont this week in their last regular season game.
