ICYMI: Woman, 72, Robbed Inside Westbury Home: Police

In a story from earlier in the week, police said the thief offered to help her with groceries, but robbed her instead.

WESTBURY, NY — A 72-year-old woman returning home from grocery shopping was robbed of her purse by a man who followed her inside her Westbury home on Wednesday, Nassau County police said.

Police said that at about 3:15 p.m., the woman was approached by a male subject who asked her if she needed help bringing her packages inside her Westbury Lane home. She told him that she didn't need any help, but he then followed her into her home and asked for some water, and she agreed "out of fear" and brought him a bottle of water, police said.

The subject asked for some money and grabbed the woman's purse, then left her home and rode away on a blue bicycle, police said. The woman was not injured during the ordeal, police said.
