PHOTOS: Lady Trojans Defeated by Manhasset
Seeking their eighth consecutive state championship the Garden City Trojans fell to the Manhasset Indians in the Nassau County championship game Wednesday.
On a day when there were too many turnovers, missed opportunities and lost draws, Garden City was defeated by a talented and deep Manhasset team 14-8 in the Nassau County Class B finals.
The Indians looked to be unstoppable at times beating the Trojans to the ball and scooping up loose balls throughout the game. Garden City did close to within three goals early in the second half at 8-5 but with their scoring coming from nine different players Manhasset was able to pull away and secure their first championship in nine years.
Garden City finished with an overall 17-2 record in a year where they were only seeded fourth at the beginning of the season.
