Islanders Holding Pre-Game Events Before First Coliseum Game

Fans can play games, visit food trucks and listen to music before the puck drops.

The Islanders will be playing their first game at the renovated Nassau Coliseum game this Sunday against the Philadelphia Flyers. But before that, fans who show up early will be able to enjoy a free pre-game celebration at the Coliseum.

From 10 a.m. to noon, the area outside the Coliseum will be filled with fun and games for fans. There will be a mini tennis court, a variety of inflatable games and lots of tailgate games. In addition, there will be multiple food trucks and an exterior beer garden (which opens at 11 a.m.). There will also be music from radio station WBAB.

The Coliseum will also present Long Island Sled Hockey with a $10,000 donation from funds raised through ticket sales to the Islanders Draft Party, held at the arena in June 2018. Long Island Sled Hockey serves more than 50 physically and/or mentally disabled athletes, ages 9 to 68, through sled hockey, a sport designed to allow participants with disabilities to play ice hockey. The check presentation will take place at 10:30 a.m. on NYCB LIVE Plaza, where Long Island Sled Hockey President Bryan Blomquist, along with a handful of their players, will accept the check on behalf of the organization.
