Islanders Hosting Billy Joel Night On Dec. 15

Fans at the game will get bobble head, and also have a chance to win tickets to Joel's sold-out New Year's Eve show at the Coliseum.

The New York Islanders will host their first-ever Billy Joel Night, on Saturday, Dec. 15, in a matchup against the Detroit Red Wings at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The night will celebrate the Long Island icon’s legendary music.

Doors open for the game at 6 p.m., and the first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a special Islanders-themed Billy Joel bobblehead. Joel’s music will be featured throughout the game, and all fans in attendance will be eligible to win tickets to Joel’s sold-out New Year’s Eve performance at Nassau Coliseum. The game begins at 7 p.m.

Joel, a Long Island native, will play his 34th show at the venue this New Year’s Eve, and the performance marks the 25th anniversary of the last time Joel played Dec. 31 at the Coliseum. He last played on Long Island on April 5, 2017, when a sold-out crowd packed the seats for the arena's first show following its extensive renovation. In 1998, Joel sold out nine shows, setting the venue’s record for the most sellouts in one year. A banner currently hangs in the rafters to commemorate Joel’s longstanding history on Long Island.
