J. Crew Factory Opens At The Gallery At Westbury

J. Crew Factory held a grand opening Friday at its latest Long Island location, The Gallery at Westbury Plaza in Garden City.

The new store at the shopping center, at 900 Old Country Rd., replaces the women’s clothing store Mystique Boutique at unit 960, one-half mile from J. Crew's standard retail store at Roosevelt Field Mall.

The Garden City lower-cost factory outlet is J. Crew’s third on Long Island, with storefronts at the Tanger Outlet centers in Deer Park and Riverhead, and adds to the more than 170 outlets nationwide. The new store carries clothes for men, women and children.

Patch contacted a J. Crew spokesperson, who declined to comment about the new store at this time. Taylor Pigman, a J. Crew marketing representative, said in a statement last month: “We're so excited about our new J.Crew Factory location at The Gallery at Westbury Plaza. We're thrilled to open our doors to the community, and can't wait for our customers to shop during our opening weekend.”

J. Crew Group filed for Chapter 11 protection in May 2020 but emerged from bankruptcy four months later; however, before the COVID-19 pandemic the apparel retailer had racked up a $1.7 billion debt loan, according to Chain Store Age, a retail news outlet.

J. Crew’s lease for the 4,826-square-foot unit with Regency Centers, the Jacksonville, Fla.-based landlord of The Gallery at Westbury, needed approval from the Town of Hempstead Industrial Development Agency because the shopping center abides by an economic incentives agreement that the IDA granted Equity One, the original developer, according to Long Island Business News.

Sean Mirkov, a Regency Centers leasing agent, said in a statement: “We couldn’t be happier for J. Crew Factory to be part of The Gallery at Westbury Plaza, and we're excited for what they will offer to the daily shopping experience here.”
