James Metzger Honored By Heart Assn., Presents Award To H.S. Lacrosse Star

The American Heart Association on Long Island will host its 25th Annual Golf Classic-A Joel Hamroff Memorial Tribute on Monday, June 17, at the Meadow Brook Club in Jericho. This year’s honoree is James C. Metzger, chairman and CEO of The Whitmore Group, a leading insurance services and estate planning company in the New York metropolitan area that is headquartered in Garden City.

Besides the American Heart Association, Metzger supports many other local organizations, including Hofstra University, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island, Citizens’ Committee for Children of New York and Hempstead PAL Lacrosse.

Metzger recently presented the third annual James C. Metzger Outstanding Player Award to senior lacrosse player Jesse Parker of Suffolk County’s Half Hollow Hills East High School. Parker was team co-captain and co-MVP this season. He also was recognized as a two-time All-County Division I player, leading the county in total points for two seasons. Metzger was a star player in lacrosse, football and basketball at the school.
