Kaste; Women's Track and Field Earn All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the list of individual females and track and field teams that have earned All-Academic status during the indoor and outdoor seasons. This is the second time in as many years the women have taken home All-Academic Honors while recent graduate, Jacqueline Kaste represents the Panthers on the individual list.

The women's 3.25 team GPA was good enough to be ranked among the 92 institutions to make the cut and post a team grade point average of at least a 3.0. Grand Valley State and Johnson C. Smith College earned the top distinction as a result of being the highest-placing team with at least a 3.00-cumulative GPA at the most recent NCAA indoor and outdoor championship, respectively. The Panthers are one of seven institutions from the Northeast-10 that appear on the list.

Kaste, a two-time outdoor All-Region honoree, was among the other 383 All-Academic winners recognized during the 2012-13 indoor and outdoor track and field seasons. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have reached a provisional or automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships in either indoor or outdoor seasons. Kaste boasted a 3.41 GPA and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships with a time of 36:42 in the 10k; the fastest time on the team. She was one of 21 women recognized from the NE-10.
