Kevin Hahn Joins James C. Metzger’s Whitmore Group

The Whitmore Group, Ltd., a leading insurance services and estate planning company headquartered in Garden City, has announced that Kevin Hahn has joined the firm as an assistant vice president in the Commercial Lines Division. Mr. Hahn, a 28-year-old Long Island native raised in Dix Hills and currently residing in Babylon Village, is a significant addition to the company’s existing team of experienced insurance professionals dedicated to The Whitmore Group’s risk management and cost effective solutions that address insurance related issues confronting the construction industry in today’s litigious environment.

Prior to joining The Whitmore Group, Mr. Hahn held various marketing positions at Vanguard Coverage Corp., (Plainview, 2011-2014), a regional brokerage, and the construction group at Alliant Insurance Services (Garden City, 2014-2016), a national broker. During his career, Mr. Hahn has developed and maintained strategic relationships throughout the construction industry. His expertise includes the creation of programs for contractors with sales up to $500 million and the placement of large project insurance programs for general contractors and owners in New York and throughout the country.

Mr. Hahn comes from a long line of insurance professionals. His father, Kevin, currently serves as the regional director of CRC Insurances Services, Inc., the largest insurance wholesaler in the world. Mr. Hahn’s uncle, John, is the co-founder and CEO of Edgewood Partners Insurance Center (EPIC), one of the largest retail insurance brokerages in the country.

Hahn-Metzger Connections

Mr. Hahn’s father provided James C. Metzger, the founder, chairman and CEO of The Whitmore Group, with his start in the business during 1983. Other connections between the Hahn family and Mr. Metzger include St. Anthony’s High School in South Huntington and the Half Hollow Hills high schools in Dix Hills.

Mr. Metzger contributed the lead gift for the stadium field unveiled during 2016 in the front of St. Anthony’s High School. At Half Hollow Hills East, Mr. Metzger was a Suffolk County All-Star running back who started every game in his three–year varsity career. He graduated with the distinction of the all-time leader in scoring and rushing yardage. He also was an outstanding lacrosse player and the school’s boys’ lacrosse leadership award is presented in his name.

The younger Hahn’s athletic career began with St. Anthony’s football, where he set the sophomore single season rushing record and was honored with All-CHSFL (Catholic High School Football League of Metropolitan New York) and All-Daily News. Following that season, Mr. Hahn transferred to Half Hollow Hills High School West, where he was a two-time second team All-Long Island selection (2005-running back and 2006-linebacker) and a two-time team MVP, two-time All-County and an All-Division award recipient. During 25 varsity games, Mr. Hahn amassed 3,000 rushing yards and 28 touchdowns.

After committing to Division 1AA Monmouth University, Mr. Hahn saw significant playing time at fullback as a true freshman, scoring his first collegiate touchdown against Central Connecticut State. After his freshmen year, he spent a short-time at Penn State before returning to Monmouth to finish his collegiate career. Mr. Hahn was the starting fullback during his junior year and completed his college degree in business.

Philanthropy Is Part Of Whitmore Group's Culture

As one of Long Island’s leading philanthropists, Mr. Metzger and his company have supported Hofstra University, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island, Half Hollow Hills East High School, Hempstead Police Athletic League, the New York City YMCA and other organizations. An All-American lacrosse player at Hofstra, Mr. Metzger has committed $1.5 million to Hofstra Athletics, the largest gift in the history of Hofstra Athletics. He has been inducted into the Hofstra Athletics Hall of Fame, the Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame and the Adelphi University Sports Hall of Fame.

Mr. Hahn is involved with The Whitmore Group’s community programs and also supports other nonprofit organizations. These include New Hope International Ministries in Bayshore that provides food and clothing for families in need along with a Friday night youth program that provides a safe environment for neighborhood children to gather and learn life skills for success. Mr. Hahn is a sponsor at Compassion International that provides children of third-world countries with food and education, and he also supports Children of Hope of Wyandanch, a shelter for children without homes or parents.
