Kmart to Close Dozens of Stores, Lay Off Thousands
Facing trouble, the retailer will close 64 of its stores, including some New York locations. See the full list here.
Kmart, the big-box retailer, will be closing 64 of its stores this year and laying off thousands of employees.
The news comes not from the corporation, but from the employees themselves, who spoke to Business Insider about the closures.
Kmart, which is owned by Sears, has yet to issue an official statement on the closures. But employees of the stores confirmed that they would be closing by December.

The retailer has a several Long Island locations: Bridgehampton, Farmingville, Huntington, Riverhead and West Babylon. None of them are yet slated for closure.
