LI Man Stabbed Another To Death Near Middle School: Nassau Police
Police say the stabbing occurred in broad daylight over the weekend.

HEMPSTEAD, NY — A Nassau County man was arrested and charged with murder for the stabbing death of a man in Hempstead on Saturday.
According to police, officers responded to a call for a fight at 155 Franklin Ave., next door to the Academy Charter Middle School, at 4:50 p.m. When the officers arrived, they found a 39-year-old man who had been stabbed. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police have not yet released the identity of the victim.

Early the next day, police arrested Westley Witts, 30, in connection with the crime. He is charged with second-degree murder and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Sunday and was remanded into custody.
