Long Island Children's Museum Gala Raises More Than $800K

The annual Cupcakes & Cocktails event raised funds to support inclusive programming and educational experiences at the local museum.

GARDEN CITY, NY — More than $800,000 was raised to support the Long Island Children's Museum at its annual Cupcakes & Cocktails gala.

The gala took place Oct. 8, honoring Bank of America, the Frank and Janet DellaFera Family Foundation Trust, and The Viscardi Center for their support of the Museum's mission of "connecting children and caregivers to wonder, imagination and exploration."

The funds will help provide inclusive experiences for families, including those who may face financial or other barriers, through educational programming, accessibility initiatives, community outreach, and more, the Museum said.

The LICM currently has 14 interactive exhibits, art spaces, educational programs, events, a live theater, and more. Since opening in 1993, it has welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.

Long Island Children's Museum President Erika Floreska said the three 2026 honorees help the Museum provide a place for children to learn and thrive.

"Children need places where they can play, discover who they are and make memories with the people they love," Floreska said.

Bank of America received the 2026 Community Impact Award in recognition of its more than 20 years of partnership with the LICM and its work helping children and families access opportunities to learn and explore.

The Frank and Janet DellaFera Family Foundation Trust received the Partner in Play Award for its philanthropic support of the Museum.

The Viscardi Center received the 2026 Nonprofit Partner Award for its shared commitment to strengthening the community.

The gala featured live music, a yo-yo performance, and creative activities, including candle- and bracelet-making. Guests also enjoyed dinner, cupcakes, cocktails, and networking opportunities.

"Cupcakes & Cocktails is an important opportunity to bring our community together around a shared purpose," Director of Advancement at Long Island Children's Museum Nyrekia White said. "The generosity of our sponsors, honorees and supporters allows us to continue providing experiences that inspire children, support families and make play and discovery more accessible."

White added that the gala also aims to inspire adults to continue exploring and creating.

"And it reminds us that the power of play is something adults need, too," White said.

Next year's Cupcakes & Cocktails will be held on Oct. 7, 2027. Businesses, philanthropic leaders, and community supporters can find more information about getting involved online.

The Museum is located at 11 Davis Ave. in Garden City.
