Man Arrested After Attacking His Father: Garden City Police

GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending July 15.
- Officers investigated a report of a man committing criminal mischief by keying the side of a vehicle parked on 6th Street on July 8.
- A dent was found on the rear quarter panel of a vehicle parked in Field 7S on July 9.
- Officers and firefighters responded to the railroad tracks near St. James Street South for a report of a smoke condition on July 9. Upon investigation, a burnt shirt was found on the track bed.
- Officers conducted traffic details for a traffic light outage at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Stewart Avenue on July 9.
- As a result of summer storm conditions on July 10, officers responded to multiple calls for burglar alarms, fire alarms, fallen tree limbs, auto accidents, power outages and traffic light outages.
- A vehicle was reported stolen from the driveway of a Middleton Road residence on July 11.
- Officers responded to multiple calls for traffic light outages on July 11.
- Officers responded to Rockaway Avenue and 1st Street for a report of a lost elderly man on July 11. Upon arrival, it was determined the elderly male, who resides in Uniondale, was riding his electric mobility scooter when it became disabled. With the assistance of the fire department, the man and his scooter were returned to his home.
- Officers charged a 21-year-old man from Lynbrook for reckless driving of an ATV on 11th Street on July 11. He was also charged with excessive speed, unlawful operation on a highway, and unregistered operation.
- Officers responded to reports of fallen tree limbs on Golf Club Lane and Garden Street on July 12.
- Officers responded to Clinton Road for a report of a family dispute on July 12. Upon arrival, it was determined a 20-year-old man punched his father resulting in a facial injury and intentionally damaged the windshield to his father’s car. The man was charged with assault, criminal mischief, and criminal contempt (violation of an order of protection).
- On July 13, officers investigated a report of numerous fraudulent transactions made against a resident’s debit card account.
- On July 14, Garden City Detectives arrested a 68-year-old man from Garden City for intentionally scratching a vehicle parked on 6th Street on July 8. He was charged with criminal mischief.
- Graffiti was found on the chimney and roof of the Stewart Manor Railroad Station on July 14.
