GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending Jan. 5.

Dec. 30

  • Officers investigated a two-vehicle crash on Old Country Road where one of the vehicles reportedly left the scene.
  • The department is investigating a report of someone filing for unauthorized unemployment benefits by using another person’s identity.
  • A resident reported he noticed multiple electronic items missing after having several guests inside his home.

  • Officers assisted firefighters who responded to a residence for a small electrical fire.
  • Detectives are investigating an identity theft report after a Garden City business reportedly received payment notices for a U.S. Small Business Administration Loan the company never filed for.

Jan. 1

  • A 21-year-old man was charged with violation of the governor’s executive orders for holding a large party with numerous guests at his home.
  • CVS reported three male teens with backpacks entered the store and stole multiple packages of cold medicines and nutritional shakes.
  • Packages were reported stolen from in front of a residence in the Cherry Valley Avenue apartment complex.
  • Upon investigation of a vehicle blocking traffic on Meadow Street and Washington Avenue, a 52-year-old driver was charged with driving with 11 license suspensions and impeding traffic.

  • Officers investigated a two-vehicle crash on Franklin Avenue where one of the vehicles reportedly left the scene.

Jan. 3

  • The police department notified the water department of an apparent water line break on 7th Street.
  • Officers arrested a 46-year-old man for the theft of several boxes of razors from CVS.

Jan. 4

  • A resident reported license plates ordered from the DMV were never delivered to his residence.

Jan. 5

  • A driver was charged with driving on Franklin Avenue with a suspended registration and unregistered operation.
  • Upon investigation, Garden City detectives arrested a 29-year-old man for the theft and unauthorized cashing of a $3,500 check placed in the mail by a Garden City Plaza business. He was also charged with an outstanding larceny warrant from Suffolk County and a traffic warrant from Nassau County.
