Man Charged With Multiple Thefts From Business: Garden City PD

GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending June 3.
- A 32-year-old man from New Hyde Park was arrested on May 27 for the theft of household items at Keyfood. Upon investigation, he was also charged with stealing items from the store on May 26 and attempting to steal items on May 14. He was charged with two counts of petty larceny and one count of attempted petty larceny.
- Officers responded to a traffic light malfunction on New Hyde Park Road and Fairmount Boulevard on May 27.
- Officers arrested a 56-year-old man from Roosevelt in Parking Field 7N on May 28 for the theft of merchandise from CVS Pharmacy. He was charged with petty larceny.
- A 23-year-old driver was charged with driving on Stewart Avenue with a suspended license and a license plate violation on May 28.
- On May 28, a 7th Street company reported sending multiple payments totaling $106,000 to an unknown company who posed via email as one of their vendors. The company realized they were victims of fraud when the actual vendor requested payment for their services.
- Damage was discovered on the bumper of a vehicle parked in Parking Field 7N on May 30.
- An Officer responded to 6th Place for a fallen tree limb on May 30.
- Upon investigation of a two-vehicle accident on Herricks Road and Rockaway Avenue on May 31, both drivers, a 39-year-old man from Bayside and a 41-year-old man from Garden City, were arrested for DWI. The driver from Bayside was also charged with leaving the scene of an accident. A passenger in one of the vehicles was transported to Winthrop Hospital for facial injuries.
- Officers were assigned to traffic control details for a large demonstration on Franklin Avenue on June 1.
- As a result of a traffic stop investigation on Old Country Road on June 1, a Smithtown carting vehicle was cited for suspended registration, fuel leaks and being 30,000 pounds overweight.
- Graffiti was found on the Chestnut Street overpass on June 1.
- Officers arrested a 29-year-old woman from Freeport for the theft of merchandise from CVS on June 2.
- Loose change and two EZ Passes were reported stolen from vehicles parked on Laurel Street on June 2.
- A truck travelling southbound on Cherry Valley Avenue struck the train trestle on June 2. The driver, a 24-year-old man from Westbury, was charged with disobeying bridge clearance signs.
