Man Opens Neiman Marcus Account With Fake IDs, Buys Over $10,000 in Jewelry at Roosevelt Field: Police
The Queens man was caught after returning to the store for the third time to try to open another account, police say.

EAST GARDEN CITY, NY - A Queens man was arrested on Thursday for using fake IDs to open a Neiman Marcus account which he used to buy over $10,000 in jewelry at the Roosevelt Field Mall last month, according to Nassau Police.
According to police, 27-year-old Yixin Chen used a fake New York state driver’s license, social security card and Macy’s Visa credit card to open the account on June 5.
He successfully received the credit card and then purchased over $7,000 in jewelry at the store in the mall located at 620 Old Country Road, police said.

Chen then returned to Neiman Marcus the following day and purchased more jewelry on the same credit card totaling $3,258.75, police said.
On Thursday, he returned to Neiman Marcus and tried to open another credit card under a different fake name, police said.

Asset Protection Agents recognized Chen from the prior transactions and notified police.
He was placed under arrest in the parking lot as he entered a 2015 Toyota Rav at about 8:35 p.m., police said.
Another five IDs with Chen's photo were recovered from inside the car, police said.
He is being charged with two counts of third degree grand larceny, five counts of second degree possession of a forged instrument, two counts of first degree identity theft and first degree defraud, police said.
He will be arraigned on Friday.
