Man Shot in Head While Driving in Nassau

BREAKING: He survived the gunshot. Police are still investigating.

A man was shot in the head in Hempstead Monday night and survived, police said.

According to Gang Investigation Squad detectives, Hempstead Police responded to a ShotSpotter indicator in the vicinity of Terrace and Atlantic avenues at 10:10 p.m. in Hempstead. Upon their arrival, they discovered a 20-year-old man sitting outside his car suffering from a gunshot wound to the forehead. He was transported to an area hospital where he is in stable condition.

According to Newsday, the man was shot while he was driving, and then crashed into nearby parked cars. It was not clear if the man was targeted.

This is the second shooting in Hempstead in a day. Earlier Monday, 15-year-old Josue Guzman was gunned down on a street corner.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
