Man Struck And Killed By Vehicle In Hempstead: Police

HEMPSTEAD, NY — A man was killed when he was struck by a vehicle Monday evening in Hempstead, authorities said.

Just before 7:30 p.m., the pedestrian was hit by a 2006 Nissan Altima traveling southbound on Peninsula Boulevard near President Street, police said.

The 33-year-old driver remained at the scene.

The victim, who was suffering from severe trauma, was pronounced dead at an area hospital, police said.

Detectives are investigating.
