Multiple Construction Vehicles Damaged: Garden City Police

GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending June 17.

  • Contractors for the Third Track Expansion Project report multiple vehicles and construction equipment were damaged at their Herricks Road worksite on June 10. Total cost of the damage is approximately $33,000.
  • A vehicle was reported stolen from a Roxbury Road driveway on June 10. Multiple items were reported stolen from another vehicle parked in the vicinity.
  • Sneakers and money were reported stolen from a vehicle parked at the Garden City Golf Club on June 10.
  • Officers assisted the fire department, which responded to a residential carbon monoxide alarm activation on June 11.
  • Officers responded to Maple Street on June 11, where a fallen tree limb damaged a village light pole.
  • Officers responded to the Cathedral Avenue railroad crossing for malfunctioning railroad gates on June 11. MTA personnel responded and repaired the gates.
  • Officers responded to Washington Avenue on June 12, where a vehicle was damaged after striking a curb in the vicinity of St. James Street South. Upon investigation, the driver, a 46-year-old woman from Garden City, was arrested for DWI.
  • Officers assisted the New York City Fire Department for a funeral detail at St. Anne’s Church on June 12 for a firefighter who passed away due to a 9/11-related illness.
  • The rear door of a vehicle parked in Parking Field 9E was found damaged on June 12.
  • A vehicle parked in a 3rd Street driveway was rummaged through on June 13. There is no loss reported.
  • As a result of a traffic investigation on Cathedral Avenue on June 13, a 28-year-old driver was charged with excessive speed, unlicensed operation, unregistered vehicle and uninsured operation.
  • Officers investigated a two-car accident on Hilton Avenue on June 13. A passenger in one of the cars was transported to a local hospital with a head injury. One of the drivers, a 33-year-old woman from Huntington, was charged with driving with a suspended registration.
  • A car window was damaged by unknown means while parked on Arthur Street on June 14.
  • Officers were assigned to traffic safety details for a demonstration and march on Franklin Avenue as well as a demonstration and march on Old Country Road on June 14.
  • Officers responded to Meadow Street where an unknown vehicle apparently struck and damaged a Village light pole on June 14.
  • Graffiti was found on a planter in Tullamore Park on June 14.
  • A resident reported on June 15 that someone used her personal information to fraudulently file for unemployment benefits.
  • A resident reported he was advised by an out-of-state bank on June 15 that on two occasions someone attempted to remove money from his bank account.
  • Firefighters responded to Stratford School for a fire alarm activation on June 15. Upon investigation, the cause was determined to be a faulty smoke alarm.
  • A laptop computer was stolen from a vehicle parked on Magnolia Street on June 16.
  • A car window was damaged while parked in Clinton Parking Field on June 16.
  • Officers responded to traffic light malfunctions on Clinton Road at Huntington Road and Clinton Road at Meadow Street on June 16.
