Nassau Firefighters Battle Massive House Fire

Firefighters in Hempstead battled a massive house fire Wednesday night, calling in aid from many other departments to get the blaze under control.
The call came in late Wednesday night for the fire in a vacant home on Jerusalem Avenue, near Greenwich Street. When firefighters arrived, the house was completely engulfed in flames. Mutual aid was called in from many nearby departments.
Firefighters were eventually able to get the situation contained and the fire extinguished. It's unclear at this time how it started.
