Nassau Footballer Signs To Play With Packers

One of Long Island's best will be bringing his talents to Green Bay this season.

Uniondale High School alumnus William Stanback signed to play with the Green Bay Packers on Monday after participating in the team's rookie try-out camp over the weekend. Stanback was one of five rookies that the Packers drafted from the camp. The 22-year-old is a running back.

Stanback was the star of his high school football team, and according to the Packers, earned All-CIAA first-team honors while playing for Virginia Union. However, he was not drafted out of college. At Virginia Union, he rushed for 1,299 yards and 15 touchdowns.

According to Newsday, Stanback wasn't drafted in college because he was dismissed from the team in 2015 for having failed multiple drug tests when results came back positive for marijuana.
