Nassau Man Charged In Teen's Murder: Police

Police say they arrested the man responsible for the 19-year-old girl's death.

HEMPSTEAD, NY — Nassau County Police have charged a 26-year-old man with the murder of a 19-year-old woman that occurred in Hempstead over the weekend.

A call came in to police at 8:27 p.m. Saturday for a person in need at a home on Harriman Avenue in Hempstead. When the officers arrived, they found 19-year-old Maria D. Rodriguez-Perez dead. A 26-year-old man was also at the scene and was taken to Mercy Medical Center for treatment.

On Monday, police arrested Sixto J. Tapia-Angeles, 26, of Hempstead. It is unclear if he is the same man who was at the scene where Rodriguez-Perez's body was found.

Tapia-Angeles is charged with second-degree murder. He is scheduled to be arraigned today.
