New Nassau Coliseum Attracts More and More Big Acts

Billy Joel, Barbra Streisand and more will play the arena after it opens in April.

The doors have not yet opened on the renovated Nassau Coliseum, but there are lots of big-name acts that are ready to entertain at the venue.

The new Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum is set to open on April 5 with a sold-out concert by Long Island's own Billy Joel. The latest to be added to the ever-growing list of performers is Barbra Streisand, who will be bringing her vocal talents to the Coliseum on Thursday, May 4.

Since announcing that the Coliseum would be reopening in April, the list of artists and acts that will be filling the space in that first month has grown dramatically. The schedule for April (as of now) includes:

  • Billy Joel -- April 5
  • Stevie Nicks -- April 6
  • Idina Menzel -- April 7
  • Lionel Richie, with special guest Mariah Carey -- April 8
  • Marc Anthony -- April 9
  • WWE Monday Night Raw -- April 10
  • The Harlem Globetrotters -- April 11
  • Def Leppard -- April 15
  • Monster Jam monster truck rally -- April 21-23

There are more acts scheduled for later in the year, too. Barbra Streisand will be performing on May 4, then the Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey on May 12 to 21. The Weeknd will be playing on June 3, and the New Kids on the Block on July 7. Roger Waters will be performing two shows, on Sept. 15 and 16, and Bruno Mars is scheduled to perform on Oct. 5.
