New Pastor Appointed to St. Joseph's Church

The Most Reverend William Murphy, bishop, Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre, appointed Reverend Monsignor James P. Swiader pastor of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Garden City.

This appointment becomes effective June 22.

Ordained in 1975, Msgr. Swiader first served at St. Joseph’s as associate pastor.  Since 2009, Msgr. Swiader served as vice rector for the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington.

Previously, Msgr. Swiader served as pastor of Cure of Ars parish in Merrick and Saint Kilian parish in Farmingdale. He also served as administrator of Our Lady of the Magnificat mission in Ocean Beach and as associate pastor of Saint Mary’s parish in Manhasset.
