Officer Injured, Shoplifting Incident Turns 'Violent' In East Garden City, Police Say
NCPD says a woman violated a trespass ban and resisted arrest outside a popular retail store.
EAST GARDEN CITY, NY — A Westbury woman was arrested after an assault occurred on Tuesday morning in East Garden City, police said.
Nassau County police said at approximately 10:20 a.m., Angela D. McCallum, 49, entered a Victoria's Secret on Old Country Road, selected and concealed merchandise inside a shopping bag, and exited the store without paying.
Officers located McCallum in the parking lot and attempted to place her under arrest, police said. According to NCPD, McCallum became "violent" and "combative," attempting to remove an officer's taser.

One officer was injured and transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment, police said. McCallum was also transported to a local hospital, NCPD said.
Upon further investigation, it was determined that McCallum was not allowed in that Victoria's Secret – she had a trespass ban, police said.

According to police, she was charged after third-degree burglary, third-degree attempted robbery, petit larceny, second-degree assault, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, and resisting arrest. She will be arraigned on April 29 at First District Court in Hempstead, NCPD said.
