Pedestrian Dies; Struck Twice In Hempstead: Police

HEMPSTEAD, NY — A man was struck twice and died over the weekend in Hempstead, police said.

Alejandro Chamale Top, 38, was crossing Clinton Street near the intersection of Dartmouth Street just after 8 p.m. Saturday. A 2012 Dodge Durango, driven by a 46-year-old woman, hit him, police said.

Chamale Top, of Hempstead, was then struck by a second vehicle, a 2008 Acura MDX, with a 19-year-old man behind the wheel, authorities.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by an ambulance paramedic.

Police are investigating.
