GARDEN CITY, NY — An orthopedic surgeon from Plainview has donated $50,000 to a nonprofit organization that supports people with special needs.

Dr. Harvey Manes gave the money to Garden City-based Life's WORC in honor of the organization's 50th anniversary in 2022.

Manes, a philanthropist, donated through his Manes Peace Prize Foundation $100,000 over the past two years.

"His compassion and concern for our clients, as well as his unwavering support, ensures that we can continue to expand the programs and services offered by Life’s WORC," said Lynn Koufakis, Chairwoman, Board of Director, Life's WORC.

The Manes Peace Prize Foundation’s funds will be used for a new Art Program offered by Life’s WORC.
