Nassau Police Charge Man In 2011 Shooting

BREAKING: The victim died from his injuries last year, so his shooter is being charged with murder.

Police have arrested a Hewlett man and charged him with murder for the 2011 shooting of a man who died from his injuries last January.

According to police, on July 3, 2011, Daniel Flowers, then 20, of Freeport, was with a group of friends in the vicinity of 302 Main Street when someone approached him and began to shoot at him. Fowers attempted to flee, but was struck in the neck.

Police have now identified the shooter as Hamilton Croft, 38, of Hewlett. He is being charged with second-degree murder because, after a few days in the hospital, Flowers died from complications stemming from his injury on Jan. 2, 2015.

Croft is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday.
