GARDEN CITY, NY — A special vote was held Tuesday night in the Garden City Public School District to fund various capital improvements.

The referendum was approved, 637-207, the district announced.

A Bloomberg Business Center will be constructed at the high school, allowing students to immerse themselves in financial literacy and business courses.

Funds will also be used for renovating two physics classrooms.

"We will keep the community updated on the progress of the projects as we move forward. Thank you again for your support and for voting despite the winter storm!" said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kusum Sinha.

Tuesday's vote is expected to bring air conditioning to several district locations, while a state-of-the-art fitness center will be built at Garden City High School.
