Rice Amendment To Fund Airplane Noise Reduction Passes House
The amendment would provide money for research into technology to reduce airplane noise.
People who live in the flight paths of Laguardia and JFK airports may soon be able to sleep a little easier. Congresswoman Kathleen Rice announced that the House of Representatives approved an amendment she proposed to fund research into reducing airplane noise.
Rice said that the House approved her amendment to support the FAA's Airway Trust Fund. The fund provides money for operations, facilities and equipment, grants for airports and research. That includes research to develop planes with reduced noise.
Many residents of Congressional District 4, which Rice represents, have to live with loud airplane noise. It is a topic that frequently comes up, but no one has found a good solution yet.
