Schneider Aiming for Spot on USBC Team USA

Hendersen, NV - Adelphi University bowling sophomore Erica Schneider stands in 35th place after the first round of the 2013 United States Bowling Congress Team USA Trials, an annual event used to select members to the national team.

Schneider averaged 191.67 pins over six games with a high score of 224. She stands 226 total pins behind the leader and 165 outside the top three. The top three men and top three women finishers at the Team USA Trials, open to any USBC member, will each earn an automatic spot on Team USA while the National Selection Committee will pick two additional men and two additional women to join the team.

The process for determining Team USA 2013 allows for the selection of the country's top professional bowlers while also granting the opportunity to any United States Bowling Congress member a chance to earn a spot.

Team USA 2013 will consist of a minimum of 10 men and 10 women. Committees will select five men from past Team USA members with in the last 10 years or the Professional Bowlers Association Tour and five women from a pool of players that includes Team USA members since 2003.

In addition, amateur bowlers and those professionals not selected will have an opportunity to earn a spot by competing in the 2013 USBC Team USA Trials. The four-day event will be streaming live on BowlTV's YouTube page. To view the current standings, click here.
