Sweetgreen, An Expanding Healthfood Chain, Opening First LI Restaurant

The new location in Garden City features a seasonally changing menu and locally sourced produce.

GARDEN CITY, NY — Sweetgreen, a restaurant dedicated to healthy options, is opening its first Long Island location in Garden City this week.

The new restaurant opens on Tuesday, and is located at 191 7th St. in the heart of Garden City's downtown area.

For every meal sold on opening day, a meal will be donated to Island Harvest, Sweetgreen said. Island Harvest is one of Long Island's largest food banks, and helps feed thousands of Long Islanders.

Sweetgreen features seasonal menus that change five times every year, with a core menu of salads and warm bowls. It sources fresh produce, which is delivered daily, to make its healthy dishes.

Alongside staple menu items, the Garden City location will open with sweetgreen’s fall menu, which features the Curry Cauliflower Bowl and Buffalo Cauliflower side dish with regionally sourced cauliflower from Turek Farm, as well as the Chicken and Brussels Bowl.

The 2,600 square-foot location in Garden City will seat up to 26 people inside, with seating for 18 more outside. Sweetgreen has also commissioned New York artist Amber Vittoria to create an art series for the restaurant.
