Taylor King to Play in Semifinals at ITA East Regional

Philadelphia, PA – Senior Taylor King of the Adelphi University women's tennis team will play in the semifinals of the ITA Women's B Singles Championship on the campus of Chestnut Hill College today. Over the weekend, King recorded a pair of 8-4 victories before outlasting Kim Xiong of Queens College by a 9-7 scoreline in the quarterfinals.

King will face off against a Northeast-10 opponent in Merrimack's Chealsey Giatrelis in the penultimate round of play; Giatrelis previously defeated Adelphi's Gaby Adia in the second round of solo play.

The other semifinal pits Peerada Looareesuwan from the University of the District of Columbia against Kaitlyn Martin from Stonehill.

Charlotte Moreau also made her debut for the Brown and Gold in singles B competition, and defeated Amanda Gaimaro from LIU-Post by a convincing 8-3 scoreline in her opening match.

In singles A competition, Katarina Barborikova put together a solid run to the quarterfinals, as she won her first two matches by 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1 scorelines. Barborikova eventually bowed out to Aylin Mehter of Queens College, 6-4, 6-2 in the quarterfinals.

In doubles play, the pairings of Barborikova and Joanna Haich and King and Adia each picked up a victory on the weekend; Barborikova and Haich prevailed over Alla Kravchuk and Valeriia Cheban of Concordia College in doubles A competition, while King and Adia recorded an 8-1 victory over Megan Lawless and Ryan Quick of Molloy College in doubles B play.
