Teen Faces Charges After Waving A BB Gun At 66-Year-Old Woman: PD
The teen approached her wanting a ride, but she refused, and he whipped out what appeared to be a handgun, Nassau police said.
HEMPSTEAD, NY — A Hempstead teen is facing misdemeanor charges after Nassau police say he approached a 66-year-old woman and pulled out what appeared to be a handgun, on Saturday afternoon.
Officers were called to the intersection of Newport Road and Braxton Street after an unknown male went up to the woman's vehicle and asked for a ride, police said, adding that when she refused, he waved "what appeared to be a handgun."
The woman left and called 911, police said.

Officers found the 18-year-old, who ignored their commands for him to stop, and then they chased him through backyards, said police, adding that the teen was found a short time later on Front Street and was taken into custody.
No one was injured, according to police.

One tan-colored BB gun and a black-colored BB gun were found at the scene, police said.
The teen faces misdemeanor charges of second-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and third-degree criminal trespassing.
Patch does not release the names of subjects charged with low-level misdemeanors.
The teen will be arraigned on Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
