Teen Girl Pushed Intruder Out Of Her Home: Garden City Police

GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending July 29.
- On July 22, officers and firefighters responded to numerous storm-related calls, including fallen tree limbs, alarms and a traffic light malfunction. Firefighters also extinguished a tree fire on Oxford Boulevard caused by a lightning strike.
- Officers responded to Arthur Street on July 22 where the teenage girl advised she was investigating a loud noise when she saw a man standing inside her home by the front door. After the man refused her orders to leave, she was able to push him outside the house and he fled the area. Officers located and apprehended the subject, an 83-year-old man from Hempstead, on Franklin Avenue at 11th Street. He was charged with criminal trespassing.
- Items were reported stolen from a vehicle parked at the Garden City Golf Club on July 22.
- Officers responded to Franklin Avenue for a report of numerous bags of cement falling off a truck creating a hazardous condition on July 22. The truck left the scene without stopping. Upon notification, Nassau County DPW responded to the area and removed the debris. The investigation is ongoing.
- Security footage showed a teen removing a sign from the lawn of an Osborne Road residence on July 23.
- Officers were assigned to traffic safety details for a rally on Old Country Road on July 23.
- A 52-year-old driver was charged with driving on Rockaway Avenue with a revoked license and excessive speed on July 23.
- A vehicle was reportedly scratched while parked in a handicap space at the Nassau Boulevard railroad station on July 24.
- A Hauppauge company was charged with the operation of a truck on Clinton Road while 20,000 pounds overweight on July 24.
- Items were reported stolen from a vehicle parked in a Wyatt Road driveway on July 25. Other vehicles in the area were also entered with no loss reported.
- Officers investigated a report of youths riding motorbikes on the grounds of the Garden City Country Club on July 25.
- A resident was issued an appearance ticket for a loud party after midnight on July 26.
- On July 26, officers responded to a traffic light malfunction at the intersection of Clinton Road and Stewart Avenue.
- As a result of a traffic stop investigation on Franklin Avenue on July 27, a 25-year-old man from Great Neck was arrested for driving with 21 license suspensions and excessive speed.
- A 40-year-old man was charged with driving a truck on Cathedral Avenue while 12,000 pounds overweight, as well as excessive speed, on July 27.
- Cameras in the vestibule of Peoples National Bank show a man removing molding from the ATM machine on July 28.
- On July 28, police investigated a report of a person’s personal information being used to file a fraudulent application for unemployment benefits.
- Someone ordered food from a Garden City Plaza restaurant utilizing another person’s debit card without permission on July 28.
