Men's Results  |  Women's Results

New York, N.Y. – On Friday, January 11, the men's and women's track and field teams headed to the Armory Track and Field Center in New York City to open up the 2013 calendar year at the Gotham Cup. In addition to a handful of personal best times, the men tallied three top-four and five top-20 finishes while the women earned eight top-20 finishes on the day.

For the men, the distance duo of sophomore James Panetta and senior Andrew Coelho turned in the best performances of the day, each earning third place finishes in their respective events. Coelho competed in the 5,000m and turned in a time of 15 minutes flat while Panetta clocked in at 8:33.01 for a personal best over 3,000 meters.

In the 1000m run, junior transfer Ryan Healy also raced to a personal best, stopping the clock at 2:30.12 which was good enough for fourth place overall. He was also the top Division II runner in the field. Freshman William Marois had a solid outing in his collegiate debut. He traversed the mile race in 4:23.63 to capture 12th place.

David Lewis represented the sprinters and jumpers well as he took home a pair of top-30 finishes. He broke the tape in 7.19 seconds in the 60m dash and then recorded a distance of 6.39m in the long jump. Those marks were good enough for 30th and 20th respectively.

On the women's side, Elizabeth Eickelberg captured fourth place in the 3000 meter run; the highest finish of the day. The junior clocked in at 10:29.64, shaving three tenths of a second off of her personal best to kick off her first race of the indoor year. She led teammates Jacqueline Kaste and Larissa Melendez who also competed in the 3k. Kaste dropped a 20 second PR, checking in at 10:45.18 for ninth while Melendez also lowered her personal best by nine seconds in a time of 10:57.06 which earned her 12th place overall.

In the middle distances, Jennifer McNally fared well in the mile. She raced to a 22nd place showing in a time of 5:33.22 which is an 11 second PR.

Cassandra Jean, Angela Mongitore and Monica Martinez all had solid outings in the sprints. Jean notched a 20th place finish in the 60m dash with a .24 second PR with an 8.02 showing while her teammates competed in the 400m dash. Mongitore earned a 14th place finish with an effort of 58.81 seconds while Martinez clocked in less than half of a second behind in 59.36 for 17th.

Capping the meet was the 4x400m relay. The quartet of Rosie Vassilatos, Jean, Mongitore and Martinez combined to take home 10th place among the 28 team field in 4:01.83.
