Unsafe Levels Of Lead Found In Garden City Drinking Water

The village is taking steps to mitigate the problem.

GARDEN CITY, NY — Elevated levels of lead were found in Garden City's drinking water. The village said a sampling came back above the appropriate level for lead in 30 homes.

Based on the testing, the village added corrosion control treatment in Nov. 2022 to order to reduce the concentration of lead in the drinking water.

However, samples from 10 village wells did not contain lead, the village said.
