This Week Crime In Garden City: Burglar's Tools, Missing Golden Doodle, $8.7K Identity Theft

GARDEN CITY, NY — The Incorporated Village of Garden City released its crime report for the week ending Tuesday, July 21.

The items reported took place between July 15 and July 21 and are as follows:

July 21:

• GCPD officers interviewed a Garden City resident regarding a possible identity theft involving an unauthorized bank transfer and the financial loss of more than $ 3,300. Detectives are investigating.

July 20:

• GCPD officers responded to a Garden City residence for a report of a possible vehicle entry. Upon arrival, no loss was reported at this time; a canvass of the area was conducted, and a report was taken for detectives' follow-up.
• GCPD officers responded to five more reports of possible larcenies from vehicles. A canvass of the area was conducted. Detectives are investigating.
• A 33-year-old Seaford resident was arrested after aggravated unlicensed operation of an unregistered and uninsured Subaru with a suspended driver's license. The driver had 12 suspensions on 3 separate dates, and the vehicle was impounded.

July 19:

• GCPD responded to a Garden City residence for a report of a parking dispute between neighbors. A report was taken for detectives to follow up.
• Officers responded to Fairmount Blvd. and Middleton Rd. for a report of a found dog. The dog's owner was located, and the two were reunited.

July 18:

• GCPD responded to a crash in which a 32-year-old Farmingville man was arrested after possible DWI, unlicensed operation, and operating without insurance.
• Officers responded to Franklin Ave. and 10th St. for a TSL malfunction. Lights flashing; Welsbach notified.

July 17:

• A 19-year-old Baldwin woman was arrested after third-degree criminal trespass and making graffiti at St. Paul's School, police said.
• A person found a loose golden doodle on Emmit Pl. The person brought the dog to GCPD HQ, where the owner was then reunited with the dog.
• GCPD responded to Roosevelt Field and assisted NCPD Aviation, K-9, and BSO units in arresting two people for possession of burglar's tools and possession of stolen property.
• GCPD and GCFD responded to a water main break at village hall/police HQ. The water department was notified and corrected the situation.

July 16:

• A Garden City resident reports a suspicious circumstance. The woman said an unknown person knocked on her door and asked for jumper cables. The resident said 'no.' The person got into his car and drove away.

July 15:

• GCPD officers responded to a Garden City residence regarding a report of identity theft involving a stolen and altered bank check, resulting in a financial loss of $8,743.64. Detectives are investigating.
