Woman Arrested After Exposing Crowd To Mystery Spray At Hotel, Police Say

Four people were taken to a hospital for treatment after coming in contact with the unknown substance, police say.

EAST GARDEN CITY, NY — An East Garden City woman was arrested after spraying a crowd of people with an unknown substance on Friday night, police said.

Officers responded to La Quinta Inn on Stewart Avenue for an incident that occurred at about 8:44 p.m., Nassau County police said.

Police determined that Jacquelyn Chan, 33, of East Garden City, sprayed an unknown substance into a crowd of people, NCPD said. Four people were exposed to the spray and suffered from irritation, police said. They were brought to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment, police said.

Chan is charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree reckless endangerment, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

Upon investigation, police said Chan had an active Nassau County warrant, and she was arraigned on June 13 at First District Court in Hempstead.
