Woman Bribed Nurse To Fake Child's Vaccination Forms: GCPD

GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending Dec. 29.
Dec. 22
- Upon investigation of a police vehicle’s license plate reader notification, a driver was charged with driving on Franklin Avenue with a suspended registration and unregistered operation.
- Police investigated a report of a resident receiving a text message to click a link to receive monetary pandemic relief. This was determined to be a scam.
- A truck traveling southbound struck the Cherry Valley overpass. The 39-year-old male driver sustained chest pains and was transported by NYU ambulance to Winthrop Hospital. He was charged with disregarding bridge clearance signs.

- Officers and firefighters responded to a 7th Street building and rescued an elderly man in a wheelchair who was stuck in an elevator that had broken down.
- Officers investigated a report of a vehicle leaving the scene after crashing into another vehicle on Old Country Road.
- A truck traveling southbound struck the Cherry Valley overpass. The 28-year-old male driver was charged with disregarding bridge clearance signs and operating a commercial vehicle without proper endorsement.
Dec. 24
- A recycling bin was reported missing from a Russell Road yard.

- Officers and firefighters responded to several storm-related calls, including burglar alarms, fire alarms, a power line fire, a tree limb that fell on a vehicle, a tree that fell on a train, an auto accident, malfunctioning railroad gates and a traffic light malfunction.
Dec. 26
- Officers responded to Stewart Avenue where a white sedan reportedly left the scene after striking the rear of another vehicle.
- Firefighters responded to an Ash Street residence for sparking wires in the basement.
Dec. 27
- A 28-year-old driver was charged with driving on Old Country Road with a suspended license and excessive speed.
- A U.S. Postal vehicle struck the Chestnut Street overpass. The 45-year-old driver was cited with disregarding bridge clearance signs. There were no reported injuries.
Dec. 28
- Officers investigated a report of a woman who took her child to a Garden City doctor’s office in October to get required vaccines and when the nurse completed the required immunization form and was ready to administer the shots, the woman stated the child was not getting the shots and needed the form to show proof of vaccination. The subject then put $8,000 in the nurse’s pocket, took the form, and left the office. Upon investigation, Garden City Detectives charged the 31-year-old woman with bribery and petty larceny.
- Officers responded to Franklin Avenue and 2nd Street to investigate a report of a white sedan leaving the scene after crashing into another vehicle. A passenger in the vehicle sustained a head injury and was transported to a local hospital.
Dec. 29
- St. Paul’s personnel found the sink in the women’s bathroom of the St. Paul’s Comfort Station shattered. Further investigation revealed the window to the bathroom was damaged and its screen removed. The investigation is ongoing.
