Woman Hit, Killed By Car Crossing Nassau County Street: Police

HEMPSTEAD, NY — A woman is dead after she was hit by a car while crossing a Nassau County street early Saturday morning, authorities said.

Nassau County police said the accident happened around 5:45 a.m. in Hempstead. Police said the woman was crossing Greenwich Street at the intersection of Totten Street when she was hit by a black Toyota SUV traveling northbound on Greenwich Street.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital where she died, authorities said. The driver of the Toyota, an adult man, remained at the crash scene.

Police did not release the name of the victim.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
