Women's Lacrosse Advances to #3 In Latest IWLCA National Rankings

Garden City, N.Y. - The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has released the eighth poll of the 2013 regular season this afternoon. The Panthers continued to climb the ladder and advanced another spot up to #3 after notching their 12th straight victory of the season. They continue to lead the Northeast-10 Conference as the highest ranked team and are just one of three remaining unbeaten teams.

Last week, the Brown and Gold chalked up two more wins with the first coming against the then #15 New Haven Chargers at home, 14-9. They then took down St. Anselm College in front of the home crowd, 11-9. The Brown and Gold currently sport a 12-0 overall record, 8-0 conference mark and will be tested on Wednesday, April 17 when they hit the road for a NE-10 showdown at #7 Le Moyne at 4pm.

Currently, the Panthers lead the country in scoring margin (12.08), are second in scoring defense (5.75) and fifth in scoring offense (17.83). Additionally, goal keeper Jordann Dempsey is tops in all of Division II in goals against average (5.61) while teammate Devan Crimi ranks eighth in points per game (5.5).

LIU-Post remained at No. 1 and Limestone moved up to No. 2 in this week's IWLCA poll while Lindenwood moved into the national rankings for the first time in school history as the Lions came in at No. 15. The NE-10 continues to lead all conferences with five ranked teams and the PSAC sits right behind the NE-10 with four teams in the poll. Conference Carolinas and the ECC both have two teams in the top-10 of the rankings.

The NE-10's Adelphi, up to No. 3 this week, leads the five ranked teams from that conference. LeMoyne holds at No. 7, while Stonehill (No. 11) and Bentley (No. 12) both hold their positions from last week. New Haven moves up to No. 14.

West Chester from the PSAC is still the top-ranked team from that conference as the Golden Rams sit at No. 5. Lock Haven holds at No. 8, while IUP moves up one spot to No. 13. Mercyhurst rounds out the poll at No. 15.

LIU Post continues to lead the ECC as the top-ranked team; Dowling rounds out the top-10 at No. 10.

Limestone leads the Conference Carolinas as the Saints rise to No. 2 while conference rival Pfeiffer holds steady at No. 6.

Lindenwood from the WILA becomes the first conference team ranked as the Lions enter the poll this week at No. 15.

Rollins, an independent in lacrosse, moves up to No. 4 while Florida Southern, also an independent school, remained in the top-10 by holding steady at No. 9.

Five games between ranked teams are scheduled for this week, including two top-10 matchups. On Tuesday, the top-ranked Pioneers host No. 5 West Chester, while on Wednesday No. 7 LeMoyne welcomes No. 3 Adelphi in an NE-10 tilt. Friday features a PSAC game between No. 8 Lock Haven and No. 5 West Chester. On Saturday, the No. 5 Golden Rams face a third consecutive ranked opponent as they travel to face No. 13 IUP and No. 11 Stonehill hosts No. 10 Dowling.
