Women's Lacrosse Bumps Back Up To #4 In Latest National Poll

Garden City, N.Y. - The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has released the seventh poll of the 2013 regular season this afternoon. The Panthers bumped back up to #4 after notching their 10th straight victory of the season. They continue to lead the Northeast-10 Conference as the highest ranked team and are just one of four remaining unbeaten teams.

Last week, the Brown and Gold registered another win against Southern New Hampshire University by a score of 24-7. The victory brings their record to a perfect 10-0 and 8-0 NE-10 mark.

Currently, the Panthers lead the country in scoring margin (13.80), are second in scoring defense (5.10) and fourth in scoring offense (18.90). Additionally, goal keeper Jordann Dempsey is tops in all of Division II in goals against average (4.55) while teammate Devan Crimi ranks sixth in points per game (5.80).

LIU-Post remained at No. 1 and West Chester stayed at No. 2 as the top three teams remained the same in the seventh weekly poll published by the IWLCA. IUP from the PSAC joined the poll, giving that conference four ranked schools, but the Northeast-10 maintained the overall lead with five schools in the rankings. The ECC and the Conference Carolinas both have two schools in the poll.

The NE-10's Adelphi leads the way for that conference as the Panthers moved up to No. 4. LeMoyne holds steady at No. 7; Stonehill moves to No. 11, just ahead of No. 12 Bentley. New Haven remains at No. 15.

West Chester from the PSAC kept one first-place vote and remained at No. 2. Lock Haven also held their position from last week at No. 8. Mercyhurst improved to No. 13 and IUP joined the poll at No. 14.

LIU-Post continues to lead the ECC as the top-ranked team; Dowling rounds out the top-10 at No. 10.

Limestone leads the Conference Carolinas as the Saints hold on at No. 3; Pfeiffer also remains in the same rank from the previous week.

Rollins, an independent in lacrosse, moves to No. 5 while Florida Southern, also an independent school, jumped into the top-10 at No. 9 this week.

Four games between ranked teams are scheduled for this week, including a pair of NE-10 games on Tuesday. No. 4 Adelphi hosts No. 15 UNH while No. 11 Stonehill takes on No. 12 Bentley. On Thursday, a top-five matchup features No. 2 West Chester welcoming No. 5 Rollins.  On Saturday, the No. 11 Skyhawks host the top-ranked Pioneers of LIU Post.

This is the seventh weekly poll for the IWLCA for the 2013 season; the next weekly poll will be released April 16.
