Women's Soccer Picked Sixth In NE-10 Preseason Coaches' Poll

South Easton, MA – The Northeast-10 released the Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll as voted on by the league's coaches earlier this afternoon. The Panthers, last year's conference tournament runner up, registered sixth in the 15-team ranking. St. Rose tops the charts, narrowly edging American International by just four votes.

Adelphi posted an 11-7-3 overall record, 6-6-3 NE-10 mark last year and made conference history by becoming the first team to make it to the championship round as a number eight seed after upsetting AIC and Merrimack. They kick off their season this Thursday on the road when they take on non-conference opponent Chestnut Hill at 7pm.

The Golden Knights, coming off a 20-3-2 season and another national semifinal appearance, took the top spot with 189 points, just ahead of American International College, which finished with 185 points. Both programs received seven first-place votes in the poll.

The third- through sixth-place teams all finished a mere five points apart in the poll voting. The University of New Haven finished third with 147 points and the remaining first-place tally, while Merrimack College was fourth with 146 points. Southern New Hampshire University, the 2012 Northeast-10 Champions, came in at the No. 5 spot with 143 points, just one point ahead of sixth-place Adelphi University.
