Worker Injured After Falling Through Roof At Covanta Plant
The man fell 20 feet off the roof and suffered serious head trauma, police said.

GARDEN CITY, NY — Nassau County police helped to rescue a worker at the Covanta waste-to-energy plant in Garden City after they fell while working on the roof.
According to police, officers responded to the plant at 600 Merchants Concourse at 10:45 a.m. on June 23. A 53-year-old man working on the roof fell through a hatch, police said, falling about 20 feet onto another tier of roofing.
Emergency services responded, as did the Westbury Fire Department. The fire department was able to reach the man with a ladder truck and rescue basket.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious head trauma. A police medic suffered a minor injury during the rescue and was also taken to a hospital for treatment.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
