Short Summary: Explore how faith connects to civic duty in a two-part class examining the Christian history of democracy, political conscience, and voting based on the values of Christ.
Event Description: Faith does not stop at the voting booth. What if casting a ballot were more than a civic duty—what if it were a spiritual practice shaped by love of neighbor?
Join Rochester Affinity Church for "Your Vote as an Act of Worship," a free, two-part class exploring history, conscience, and how our choices at the ballot box reflect the character and values of Christ. Led by local educator and counselor Nicole MacBay, this evening features two 45-minute filmed sessions:
- Session 1: Christians, Courage & the Democratic Vote — Trace the historical journey of faith and democracy, from early church communal choices to the civil rights movement, the 1965 Voting Rights Act, and global Christian movements for justice.
- Session 2: The Ballot as Worship — Examine a biblical case for voting as an expression of discipleship. Topics include forming a Christian conscience, political idolatry, loving our neighbors, and applying Christ’s commitments to modern 2026 politics—including the case for a non-MAGA vote.
This event welcomes church groups, neighbors, and individuals across diverse backgrounds for thoughtful questions and respectful conversation. Progressive and justice-minded churches across Rochester's East Side are warmly invited to attend.
Note: Sessions will be recorded for media and content use.
